Mental Health Literacy Program

Mental health awareness is one of our priority programs to help reduce the number of suicide cases and provide a platform that offers counselling and guidance to different communities.

You don't have to struggle in silence. A problem shared is a problem solved.
Make your mental health your priority.
Although mostly not talked about, many people in our society today are
victims of mental illness. A condition that affects a person's thinking,
feeling or mood for a sustained period of time that negatively affects
them. Mental illnesses can develop at a very young age to adult hood.
Across our society, we have seen different peers being victims of this
condition. A situation where one is always isolated, over-thinking and
constantly worrying. This might include conditions like anxiety,
depression, paranoia, bipolar disorders, stress, trauma, eating
disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders to mention but a few.
Good mental health enables one to live a happy and productive life. It affects one's daily
living, relationships and physical health. People with good mental health are very courageous
and more focused on bettering their lives compared to those suffering from a mental
illness. The issue of mental illness cannot be overlooked as it has serious implications on one's
life. Victims of mental illness are often angry, sad, isolated, frustrated, and violent and some
may get involved in criminal activities.
The numbers of suicide cases are rapidly increasing every year, globally 800,000 people die
from suicide every year. It is unfortunate that little or no concern is shown. It is so
disheartening to note that most of these cases are increasing especially amongst the
young people.
Many young people are resorting to suicide or drug addiction due to depression or
challenges that they can't talk about with anyone. This is because people who are trusted
to offer support may lack confidentiality sometimes. This discourages many people to talk
about their problems. Hence, they resort to suicide. Good mental health should be
everyone's priority hence the need for awareness.
Mental health awareness is one of our priority programs to help reduce the number of
suicide cases and provide a platform that offers counselling and guidance to different
communities. This platform will help many people to be able to talk about their problems and
challenges with the help of counselors. As an organization we will offer rehabilitation
programs for people battling with different cases related to this project. I.e. drug addiction.
Program goal: Mental health awareness and reducing suicide cases.
Project beneficiaries: this will be a community based project that will be implemented in
various communities. The project will have direct beneficiaries and indirect beneficiaries.
